PPISR JRF Jobs 2022 New

PPISR Research Fellow Job For MSc Chemistry Candidates

Opening for a Research Fellow position

Applications are invited for a Research Fellow position for the Materials Science & Catalysis Division.

Candidates who are interested in performing research in the area of organic chemistry and catalysis using a range of state-of-art computational tools are encouraged to apply. This research project involving advanced quantum chemical methods will be conducted using the supercomputing facility at PPISR. The broad aim of this project is to predict the reactivity and selectivity for the various reactions and thereby design novel molecules of interest through computational approaches.

No of positions: 01

Duration: Initially 1 year, starting as soon as possible. M.Sc. candidates will be considered for PhD programme after 1 year based on their performance during the project work.

Eligibility:

Candidates with First Class in Master’s Degree in Chemistry or related subjects from a reputed educational institution/university with an interest to conduct computational chemistry R&D are encouraged to apply.

Desirable Experience:

Candidates who performed their last semester project or internship using computational tools to study chemical reaction or material properties are preferred. The project involves applying computational methods (for example, DFT) to establish a correlation between the structure

and property for range of materials / reactions. Exposure in such research methodology and interest in Machine Learning algorithms and data science are also desired.

Fellowship: The fellowship amount is INR 18,000 per month in this sponsored project.

Selection:

Selection will be made based on the performance in a personal interview and based on any other additional credentials.

How to submit application:

Please send your CV highlighting expertise related to computational chemistry to Dr. Sanjeev P. Maradur at [email protected], [email protected] and [email protected].

Last day for receipt of application is October 25th, 2022

About the institute:

Poornaprajna Institute of Scientific Research (PPISR) was established in 2003 near Bengaluru International Airport on a sprawling area of 28 acres. The institute is Promoted and Managed by Admar Mutt Education Foundation (AMEF). PPISR offers state of the art facilities for young researchers to carry out innovative research in the areas of basic and applied sciences.

The institute is a recognized by Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), GOI, New Delhi and Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) Deemed to be University, Manipal, Karnataka. All Faculty members are recognized PhD guides under MAHE, Manipal and the Research Scholars register for their PhD degrees under MAHE, Manipal, recognized as “Institute of Eminence” by Govt. of India.

Many students from PPISR have already obtained their Ph.D. degrees from MAHE, Manipal. The quality and progress of research in PPISR is reflected by the research projects sponsored by Government funding agencies and National as well as International industrial R&D Centres. The faculty and students have executed cutting-edge research programmes, created publications in high impact journals and obtained several best research paper awards in National and International conferences in the last few years. The details are in www.ppisr.res.in.

Broad areas of research carried out in the various divisions of PPISR are:

Materials Science & Catalysis: Heterogeneous catalysis, Novel catalytic materials, Biodiesel synthesis, Biomass conversion, CO2 transformations, Mesoporous polymers, Fine and Petrochemical synthesis, Gas to liquid conversion. The division has a Research Centre “Bharat Ratna Prof. C. N. R. Rao Laboratory for Materials Science” donated by Prof. C. N. R. Rao himself in 2016 considering the excellent research that is being conducted at PPISR.

Biological Sciences: Structural and functional biology of immune receptors, Structure based drug design, Anti-diabetic compounds, Chemical modification of proteins.

Theoretical Sciences: Quantum information, Foundations of Quantum mechanics, Quantum cryptography, Quantum condensed matter physics, Quantum matter, Quantum many body physics, Space-Time geometry, Topological state of quantum matter, Superconductivity and quantum spin system.

Research Facilities: Some of the representative research facilities available at the institute are X-ray diffractometer, FT-IR, Fluorescence & UV-VIS, TGA/DTA/DSC, Nano-drop Spectrophotometers, Gas Chromatographs, FPLC, HPLC, Fully Automated High Pressure fixed-bed catalytic reactor, High pressure stirred batch reactors, Flow reactors, Rotary evaporators, Chemisorption equipment, Surface area analyser, Photocatalytic reactor, Crush strength Machine, Attrition tester, Electric extruder, Phase contrast microscope, culture room, -20°C freezers, PCR machine, ELISA Plate reader, high speed cold centrifuge, cryopreservation, Protein crystallization facility and Electrophoresis units.
