Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced R&D Chemist/Engineer, with a strong understanding of core chemistry to improve polymer properties and performance. The R&D Chemist/Engineer will be responsible for the research and development of sustainable polymer solutions that create value for our customers. The selected candidate will be a part of Avient’s research and development team.
Essential Functions
- Develops, with guidance, products adhering to customer specifications, quality, and operational goals and standards.
- Conduct work in a safe, ethical and collaborative manner
- Actively participates in materials testing to facilitate scale up to production as R&D Chemist.
- Contributes to product platform development through application of statistical experimental design, product testing, and data analysis.
- Supports marketing and sales through the development of product and application data.
- Help drive innovation that enriches Avient’s intellectual property portfolio
- Use statistical methods to drive experimentation and data interpretation
- Communicate and engage with internal and external stakeholders
- Other duties as and when required.

Education and Experience
Essential:
- M.Sc in Chemistry / Polymer chemistry / Industrial chemistry, Polymer Science/Engineering, Material Science.
- Good knowledge of synthesis, characterization methods & Testing
- Good understanding of laboratory health and safety standards
- Excellent analytical and research skills
- The candidate should be a good team player and should have good presentation, networking & communication skills
Desirable:
- 2-3 years of industrial experience is preferred, but not a must
- Experience in handling analytical, mechanical and thermal testing equipment
- Understanding of polymers, processing & testing
- Experience in patent searching & IP filing
