Responsibilities for Medical Coder:
- Review and analyze patient medical records for accurate code assignment
- Ensure adherence to coding guidelines and regulatory requirements
- Learn to use medical coding software
- Apply understanding of anatomy and physiology to interpret clinical documentation and identify applicable medical codes
- Stay updated on industry changes and attend relevant training sessions
- Ensure confidentiality and security of all patient information as Medical Coder
- Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree, from a medical science backdrop or anything relevant Life Science or Bioscience, Pharmacy or Pharmaceutical Sciences, Nursing or Medicine Allied Health preferred for Medical Coder
- Good knowledge in medical terminology basics
- Good knowledge in Anatomy physiology basics
- Well-versed with ICD-10 guidelines and their implementation
- Proficient in reviewing medical records and determining the accuracy and completeness of the document
Preferred Qualifications:
- AAPC/AHIMA Certification
- Risk Adjustment coding experience
