About the job
- Develop and optimize oligonucleotide synthesis, purification, and analytical methods for novel drug discovery programs.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot oligonucleotide synthesis platforms (AKTA Oligopilot, MerMade), LC-MS, HPLCs, and other analytical instruments.
- Design and execute chemical modifications, phosphoramidite synthesis, and nucleoside chemistry to enhance oligonucleotide properties.
- Conduct mass spectrometry-based oligo sequence analysis and thermal melting (Tm) experiments for in-depth characterization.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration with chemistry and biology teams, working in a fast-paced research environment.
- Maintain detailed documentation, including electronic lab notebooks (ELN), standard operating procedures (SOPs), and inventory tracking.
- Present research findings at internal and external meetings, contributing to scientific publications and patents.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, with 2–8 years of post-Ph.D. experience in oligonucleotide synthesis within the pharmaceutical, or CRO industry.
- Expertise in oligonucleotide chemistry, phosphoramidite synthesis, nucleoside modifications, and delivery strategies.
- Strong hands-on experience with automated oligonucleotide synthesizers, purification techniques, and analytical methods.
- Proven track record of scientific contributions (peer-reviewed publications, patents, or conference presentations).
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot, optimize workflows, and drive results in a dynamic setting.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to effectively work with multidisciplinary research teams.
