Job Title: Protein Scientist
Chief Accountabilities & Responsibilities
Laboratory work:
- Plan and carry out experiments and analysis, as outlined by the project lead, to ensure effective technology transfer and development of fit for purpose processes in line with customer requirements.
- Record all laboratory work in standard official notebooks and compile results and observations for incorporation into technical reports. Adhere to the relevant procedures.
- Client communication (as required) in a professional manner.
Client communication: Communicate with clients in a professional manner as required preferred as Protein Scientist at Piramal.
Housekeeping / ESH:
- Ensure the development laboratory and other associated areas are kept in control and in a compliant manner.
- Ensure safety and hygiene standards are maintained
- Comply with COSHH and Risk assessments
Quality:
- Follow laboratory procedures to ensure that the work is carried out safely, effectively, and to an appropriate quality standard
- Follow protocols and procedures
Manufacturing Support:
- Communicate with other technical personnel in PDev, ADev, QC and manufacturing to exchange information and results that are required to assist in progressing development work as Protein Scientist at Piramal.
- Carry out manufacturing support for first time manufacturing operations, troubleshoot scaled-up processes and providing first-line technical support.
- Provide on the job training to new or inexperienced personnel in both laboratory procedures and equipment use
Critical Tasks
- Ensure project timelines are met
- Ensure accuracy of raw data and analytical interpretations
- Identify opportunities for enhancing efficiency, cost control, and safety/development performance
Key Result Areas & Measures
- Provide experimental effort for development projects
- Work within operational and ESH guidelines
- Meet financial deliverables
Competencies for Protein Scientist at Piramal:
- Protein modification and Conjugation Chemistry techniques
- Background knowledge in protein structure/function
- Background knowledge in organic chemistry
- ADC/protein purification
- Data interpretation
- Writing and reporting laboratory work
- Independent and analytical thinking
Essential Qualifications:
Educated to higher degree level in Chemistry discipline with at least 1 year of relevant experience, or educated to degree level with at least 2 years of relevant experience.
Essential Experience:
Good working knowledge of Process Development and Protein chemistry/analysis.
