Job Profile for Research Scientist (Medicinal Chemistry / Phytochemistry):
The Research Scientist (Medicinal Chemistry / Phytochemistry) is responsible for:
- Isolating, purifying, and characterizing bioactive compounds from natural sources.
- Developing synthetic methodologies and conducting structure-activity relationship (SAR) studies.
- Proficiency in analytical techniques like HPLC, NMR, and LC-MS is essential.
- Collaborating on drug discovery projects and adherence to regulatory standards.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry, Phytochemistry, or a related field.
- M.Sc./M.Pharm. Degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience in medicinal chemistry, preferably in academia or industry.
- Expertise in:
- Stereochemical concepts and classification of phytochemicals.
- Use of ChemDraw, data analysis, and interpretation.
- Natural product research and synthesis, including structure-activity relationship, stereochemistry, and conformation studies.
- Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals, with an H-index greater than 10.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences.
- Strong collaborative spirit and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Scope of work includes, but is not limited to:
- Isolating, purifying, and characterizing bioactive compounds from medicinal plants and other natural sources.
- Conducting structural elucidation of compounds using techniques like NMR, LC-MS, and HPLC.
- Writing and editing high-quality scientific content, book chapters, and regulatory documents related to medicinal chemistry.
- Developing synthetic or semi-synthetic methodologies for natural products.
- Performing structure-activity relationship (SAR) studies to identify therapeutic potential.
- Validating analytical methods and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams for drug discovery and development projects.
- Maintaining accurate documentation, preparing technical reports, and contributing to research publications.
Additional Responsibilities:
This includes but is not limited to:
- Being generally aware of best practices and business/industry trends in writing/translation.
- Participating in VC/audio calls along with your manager and recording the minutes as required.
- Meeting tight deadlines and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Conducting strong research for terminology and domain-specific knowledge.
- Effectively communicating and collaborating with team members.
- Showing passion for language and cultural preservation.
