Officer – QA Operations

Primary Objective:
Responsible for managing the quality assurance function at a third-party packing station, overseeing quality and food safety programs, implementing Abbott quality and compliance requirements at the packing station, and communicating all quality-related issues to the primary site. Ensure all incoming packing materials and outgoing finished products meet quality standards.
Major Responsibilities:
- Ensure product packing aligns with quality requirements and complies with AN, statutory, and regulatory requirements at the secondary packing station.
- Establish an incoming quality acceptance plan and be responsible for the batch release of finished products.
- Maintain interpersonal skills to foster healthy relationships with colleagues in different site functions.
- Make decisions regarding in-process quality status of finished products, in-process materials, environment, and hygiene/GMP of process equipment, manufacturing areas, warehouses, factory premises, and dispatch vehicles at the TPP plant.
- Communicate effectively to provide feedback or solutions within the QA team and with internal customers.
- Use in-process thinking to conduct RCA of Quality & Hygiene/GMP-related issues and provide feasible shop-floor solutions.
- Collect packing materials as per the sampling plan, conduct accurate and timely analysis, and release through SAP.
- Notify deviations to supervisors and stakeholders to enable corrective actions and participate in troubleshooting.
- Protect the organization’s reputation by ensuring high-quality products through precise measurement.
- Coordinate label changes and ensure only current and approved labels are applied.
- Implement GMP, GHK, GDP, and pest control plans effectively, driving continuous improvement.
- Conduct routine internal audits and identify improvement opportunities.
- Develop quality matrices and share during monthly or quarterly quality management reviews.
EHS Responsibilities:
- Ensure self and team members consistently follow EHS rules and procedures.
- Immediately report EHS incidents or near misses (unsafe acts and conditions) to supervision.
- Attend all required safety training and medical surveillance programs.
- Wear all required PPE.
- Lead by example in ensuring team members follow procedures.
- Complete required BBS observations.
- Maintain zero injuries for self and team members through safe actions and adherence to procedures.
- Identify and report opportunities to reduce energy and water use or waste generation in the work area.

Education:
- Postgraduate in Chemistry/Bachelor’s in Chemistry, Dairy Chemistry, or Food Science with 2-3 years of experience in the food industry.
- Graduate in Chemistry/Food Science with 4-5 years of food industry experience.
- Masters in a relevant field.
Background:
- Knowledge of analytical procedures and operating methods of equipment.
- Familiarity with Quality Management Systems and FSSC 22000 requirements.
- Understanding QA checks for finished products and in-process checks.
- Knowledge of safety aspects in QA labs and GMP requirements in the food processing industry.
- Hands-on experience with GLP, GHP, GDP, and cGMP practices.
Accountability & Scope:
- Ensure finished product quality release for TPM locations.
- Develop SOPs for TPM quality expectations.
- Review TPM quality performance based on KPIs and monthly reports.
- Support TPM with continuous improvement for quality performance.
- Conduct quality incident investigations, CAPA development, and market complaint investigations.
- Review Abbott-defined systems at TPM sites, including change control systems, deviations, pest management trends, and internal audits.
- Support packaging design trials for TPM as per SME protocols.
- Work closely with Plant Manufacturing, R&D, and Materials teams to prepare/update PPS.
- Possess sound knowledge of the FSSAI and Legal Metrology Act, rules, and regulations.
- Proficient in SAP quality module usage.
- Ensure QA function compliance aligns with FSSAI and ISO 22000 requirements.
- Monitor site-wide compliance effectively and provide timely MIS.
- Conduct ongoing gap analysis for corporate policies, site policies, SOPs, and regulatory requirements, and develop action plans to mitigate risks.
- Ensure robust Records Management Systems for retention and retrieval.
- Participate in internal and external audit schedules and follow up on action plans.
- Apply Quality Risk Management principles to prioritize activities based on risk assessment.
- Establish governance for all vendors associated with the site to ensure compliance.
- Ensure GMP and food safety compliance as per FSSC 22000 and FSSAI requirements at the TPM site.
- Develop and implement required quality system documents for new product introductions to ensure timely execution.
The job holder is accountable for sampling, analysis, and release of packing materials as per the plan and is responsible for providing PM to the micro lab for analysis within Abbott Nutrition Supply Chain, Jhagadia.
