Job Responsibilities:
- Inspection of received routine samples and distribution of samples to relevant laboratory sections based on analysis type.
- Communicate any abnormal samples or delays in receiving routine samples to the shift in charge.
- Adherence to standard test methods or work instructions and compliance with Quality system procedures.
- Conduct required tests and confirm test results using validation techniques to ensure result reliability.
- Detect exceptions or deviations in test results and report to the concerned personnel.
- Perform on-spot mitigation in emergencies under the guidance of the shift in charge.
- Ensure effective sample management.
- Safely dispose of leftover samples in designated containers.
- Ensure timely entry of test results in LIMS.
- Clean and maintain analytical gears (instruments, equipment, glassware) for the next experiment/test.
- Maintain good housekeeping in the laboratory.
Data Management:
- Record results in raw data books, LIMS, and process registers, and maintain individual raw data books for work documentation.
HSE & Other Regulatory Compliance:
- Follow applicable HSEF procedures and practices.
- Stay informed about environmental, site, statutory, and IP regulations.
- Handle chemicals and tools according to safety norms.
- Ensure safe working conditions and report any unsafe acts or conditions to lab management.
Learning & Mentoring:
- Take self-initiative for training to enhance competencies.
- Participate in external training and events as advised by the section head.
Business/Function-Specific Competencies (Technical/Functional):
- Timely execution of assigned tasks.
- Adaptability to erratic changes in plans.
- Working with multiple interfaces, including business, customers, operations, E&M, and HSEF.
- Sample management.
- Managing exceptions or deviations in test results.
- Prioritization of assigned activities.
HSEF-Specific Competencies:
- Fire Safety Management.
- Waste Management.
- Integrated Management System.
- RIL HSE Management System.
- Familiarity with HSE Policy, Principles, Standards, Procedures, and Practices.
Education Requirement:
- B.Sc. in Chemistry or Diploma in Chemical Engineering.
Experience Requirement:
- Preferably, 2 years in QA/QC discipline.
Skills & Competencies:
- Knowledge of test procedures and result reporting as per standard requirements.
- Competency in sample handling by category and analysis as per standard methods.
- Understanding of process stream samples and critical result parameters.
- Ability to perform different types of chemical and instrumental testing.
- Effective communication of any abnormal or off-spec result to the shift in charge.
