Applications are invited for the post of one Junior Research Fellow under a DST-sponsored project, entitled “Hydrogen Production from Water Catalyzed by Functionalized NHC-stabilized Nanoparticles and Beyond” under the supervision of Prof. Jitendra K. Bera and Prof. Manabendra Chandra, Department of Chemistry, IIT Kanpur.
Desirable Qualification and Experience
- M.Sc. in Chemistry /Physical Chemistry/Inorganic Chemistry from a reputed University/ Institute in India with 1st class and relevant experience.
- Valid NET (LS)/GATE score.
- Fundamental understanding of light-matter interaction, spectroscopy, and basic understanding of metal nanoparticles’ optical properties (especially, plasmonics) will be a plus point.
- Good knowledge of synthesis and functionalization of nanoparticles. Prior experience and expertise in this area will be highly desirable.
- Knowledge in the characterization of nanoparticles and molecules (TEM, SEM, UV-Vis spectroscopy, FT-IR spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, XPS, PXRD).
- Solid understanding of catalysis/photocatalysis and water oxidation. Prior experience and expertise in this area will be highly desirable.
- Basic understanding of lasers, LEDs, etc.
Nature of Work
- Synthesis, functionalization, and characterization of nanoparticles.
- Setting up and carrying out photocatalysis reactions (H2 production from water).
- Analysis of results/data.
- Drafting manuscripts.
Salary:
₹43,660/- (per month)Term of Appointment: The appointment will be purely on a temporary and contractual basis. Initial appointment will be for one year with a possibility of extension up to 3 years (based on the work performance of the fellow).
