Pickling Process Chemist (Shift in charge – Pickling process)

About the job
Department Responsibility
- Supervise and manage the pickling process of stainless steel pipes/hollows, including preparation and maintenance of pickling solutions (e.g., acids, inhibitors, etc.).
- Ensure that pickling baths are maintained and replenished as per standard operating procedures.
- Monitor chemical concentrations and ensure adherence to product specifications as per SOP.
- Implement corrective actions when deviations in the pickling process are detected.
- Ensure that all pickling operations comply with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Maintain chemical safety data sheets (MSDS) and ensure proper storage and handling of hazardous materials.
- Create a safe work environment and motivate the team to aim for zero accidents.
- Motivate workers to achieve the highest standard of quality.
- Encourage teamwork among workers to achieve higher productivity.
- Follow the ISO 9001 system for all product/production-related activities.
- Follow the EHS and related activities.
- Maintain a disciplined working environment within the section.
- Collaborate with engineers and production managers to improve pickling efficiency and minimize waste.
- Conduct research and recommend process adjustments to enhance pickling performance and reduce costs.
- Provide regular reports to management on process performance, safety, and compliance.
- Investigate and resolve issues related to pickling performance or quality.
- Maintain 5S standards at the highest level in the Finishing section and encourage the team.
- Implement TPM, and participate in Kaizen and small improvement initiatives in the section.
EHS Responsibility
- Demonstrate EHS leadership and act as a role model.
- Communicate and promote the Alleima EHS Policy and Safety Principles.
- Report on hazards and near-misses related to Environment, Health, & Safety.
- Systematically monitor and continuously improve EHS performance in their area of responsibility.
- Follow EHS guidelines and procedures, report hazards, and suggest potential improvements to the work environment.
Authority
- Authorized for PPC entry of hot flow finishing machines.
- Authorized for manpower allocation on required workstations.
- Authorized for job allocation to workers.
- Authorized to approve the issuance of required materials from the store.
- Authorized to make job work challans for subcontractors.
Accountability: Responsible for safety, quality, production, and pickling process-related activities within the department.
Experience: 2-3 years’ experience in stainless steel tube finishing and pickling.
Education: Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Chemistry or a related field.
