Call for Summer Internship for Under Graduate Engineering students
Applications are invited for Summer Internship at CSIR–CMERI in 2024 from students who would be completing 6th Semester of their B.E/B. Tech courses by May/June, 2024 at IITs, NITs and other reputed Universities and Engineering Colleges of the country in the following disciplines:
Objective
To offer opportunities to eligible and interested students to participate in the ongoing research.
Duration
Summer Internship: 4 to 8 weeks during Summer Vacation (May to July 2024)
Total Intake
The total number of students to be inducted as Summer Interns will be decided as per the requirements under different ongoing projects in the R&D Groups of the Institute.
Selection Process
Selection of interns from the applications received will be done on the basis of fulfillment of Eligibility Criteria as described below and further screening process based on merit.
Eligibility Criteria:
- B.E/B. Tech students studying in a recognized College/University/Institute are eligible for the Summer Internship program after completing their 6th Semester in any of the mentioned disciplines above.
- Applicants should have passed both class X and class XII board examinations with satisfactory marks, preferably securing 1st Division/Class. Additionally, their CGPA up to the last semester examination in the BE/B Tech course must be at least 7.5. Applicants must submit self-certified copies of these documents along with their applications.

- Applications are to be submitted by post or hand-delivered to the address below. The envelope should be superscribed as “SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME at CSIR–CMERI, 2024.”

Documents to be submitted with the application:
- Original copy of the Recommendation Letter/NOC from the Head of the Institution / Head of the Department / Training and Placement Officer mentioning their aspirations and the date & period of proposed Summer Internship at CSIR–CMERI.
- Self-certified copies of mark sheets/grade cards and certificates of all examinations passed (starting from board exam of class X)
- Bio-Data (as per enclosed format shown in ANNEXURE–I)
Important:
- No phone call/email/personal query will be entertained. Students and their Guardians are requested not to contact regarding their application and selection.
- Applications made only by the student/candidate without any recommendation from their institution will be summarily rejected.
When to Apply:
Applications must be received by the Head, Skill and Innovation Promotion Group at CSIR–CMERI, Durgapur, latest by March 31, 2024. The list of selected candidates (including waitlisted ones, if any) will be notified on CSIR–CMERI website by the last week of April 2024.
Internship Fee:
A non-refundable amount of Rs.5,000/- is to be deposited (by NEFT or other mode of bank Transfer) by the selected candidates only as the Internship Fee within the time period mentioned in the notification (to be displayed on the CSIR-CMERI website by the last week of April 2024). The Bank Account details of CSIR-CMERI will also be provided in the said notification. Students from NIRF 2023 ranked (1-200) engineering institutes (https://www.nirfindia.org/2023/EngineeringRanking.html) are exempted from the payment of above Course Fee. On successful completion of the internship, all the interns will be provided with Certificates.
Accommodation may be arranged only for a very limited number of out station candidates on payment basis, if available and request is made well in advance along with their applications. Other students will have to make their own arrangements of stay. The decision of the concerned authority will be final and binding in this regard.
NB: Director, CSIR–CMERI reserves the right to accept or reject any application for Summer Internship in any specific discipline, or increase/decrease the number of vacancies in any year due to internal reasons and ongoing programme/activities of the Institute. No further correspondence in this regard will be entertained.
