MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:
Purpose: Tata Steel R&D is working on developing new business segment based on its innovative & inhouse developed “Iron powder”. In order to rapid market seeding of Tata iron powder, support the production & quality control, new product development and application development, an experience candidate in the metal powder industry, especially iron powder is required.
Specific job:
- Research and technology development on metal powders, especially iron powder, comprising powder production, characterization, quality control, testing and certification, research and new product development
- Conceptualize and executing Research projects on iron powder production, testing and new product development.
- Design of experiments, data analysis for plant scale demonstration trials; Generating publications and IPR in the domain of metal powders and powder metallurgy,
- Support the technical requirement for iron powder production R&D, plant, and quality control,
- Organizing and established new application area/business for iron powder, technical discussion/inputs with customer and production team, optimization of powder properties as per customer/application requirements,
- Work closely with customers/ consumers of iron powder to establish the product for applications like Metal Injection Molding, Cutting tools, Magnetic materials, food fortification, powder metallurgy components thru die and press route, Additive manufacturing etc.
- Work closely with plant/ research institute to develop research collaboration in this area and help other researchers

- To support the iron powder research and business segment by carrying out research, technology advancement and implementation projects.
- Application development of iron powder and other metal powders
- Develop new business area for iron powder and powder metallurgy domain.
- To generate innovative ideas and explore the unexplored areas in the domain of iron powder and powder metallurgy to develop new application
- Publication of research output and protecting the technological outputs by filing IPR
