IISER TVM PhD Admission For CAMRIE & CHPC – Applications Invited

Applications are invited from highly motivated students for admission to the Ph. D. program of Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Thiruvananthapuram IISER TVM in the Centre for Advanced Materials Research with International Engagement CAMRIE and Centre for High-Performance Computing (CHPC) for the session starting from August 2022, i.e., Varsha 2022 semester. Candidates are required to apply through the online portal only.

General Eligibility Criteria:

(For centre specific eligibility criteria see the tables below) Qualify in at least one of the National eligibility tests (CSIR-UGC-JRF, NBHM, GATE, JEST 2022) with validity as on 1st August 2022. Obtain a minimum of 6.5 CGPA on a 10-point scale (or first-class equivalent) or first-class Master’s degree in relevant areas as declared by the respective University. BS-MS students from any of the IISERs/IITs/IISc with CGPA 8 or above on a 10-point scale are exempted from National level test eligibility-related criteria.

II. Centre for High-Performance Computing (CHPC)

Numerical investigations of quantum pheonmena in molecular and biological processes
  • (General Eligibility 1 AND General Eligibility 2) OR General Eligibility 3

AND

  • Masters in Physics/Mathematics/Chemistry/Biology preferably with background and experience in numerical techniques.
Computational materials science
  • (General Eligibility 1 AND General Eligibility 2) OR General Eligibility 3

AND

  • Masters in Chemistry/Physics; Experience in theoretical chemistry/theoretical condensed matter physics is desirable.
Theoretical and Computational Chemical and Biological physics
  • (General Eligibility 1 AND General Eligibility 2) OR General Eligibility 3

AND

  • Masters in Chemistry/Physics; Experience in theoretical chemistry/soft matter physics/biophyics is preferred. Background and experience in numerical techniques and computations will be preferred.

 

Selection Procedure:

During the application process, a candidate will be asked to select one or more choices of the research area for the respective centers based on her/his qualification. The shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend interviews which will be conducted in hybrid mode at IISER TVM.

  • Only applications complete in all respects would be considered. Do not forget to click the “Submit” button after completing your application.
  • Applicants will also be prompted to upload all the supporting documents online.
  • Applicants should provide the Name/Affiliation/Contact number and Email addresses of two referees in the application form.
  • Applicants belonging to GE/OBC and SC/ST/PH categories are required to make a payment of Rs. 500/- and Rs. 250/-, respectively, as a processing fee online at: https://www.onlinesbi.sbi/sbicollect/icollecthome.htm
  • On submission of the online application form, the applicants will receive an acknowledgment email with a unique application number.
  • Applicants are NOT required to post a hard copy of the application to IISER TVM.

  • Mere fulfillment of the eligibility criteria does not entitle a candidate to be called for the interview.
  • Relaxation for reserved categories to the eligibility criteria will be applicable as per Government of India rules.
  • Candidates selected for the Ph.D. programs of the centers will be nominally associated with one of the existing schools of the institute for operational reasons. The school will be assigned based on the candidate’s preceding degree and experience.
