Job Description: IP Professional / Patent Engineer
Eligibility Criteria:
- Masters’ degree or above in chemistry, or material science.
- 5+ years experience in patent management at a multi-national corporation
- Solid knowledge of patent process and related patent regulations in India, the United States, Asia, and PCT
- Registered patent agent in India or another country preferred
- Experience in semiconductor (and specifically in semiconductor manufacturing) technology preferred
- Experience with negotiating agreements (such as NDAs and/or IP agreements) a plus

- Reporting to the IP group within the Legal and Compliance Organization, this role will have the responsibility of supporting the broader Applied Materials organization. Applied is seeking an energetic team player able to provide counsel on patents and other IP issues, and adapt to a broad spectrum of technologies across multiple business units.
Job Duties
- Prepare and conduct training of engineers and management to promote IP protection, including patents, trade secrets, confidential information, copyrights, and trademarks.
Work closely with engineers to identify patentable subject matter, improve invention disclosure quality and drive invention disclosure approvals through business unit patent committees. - Example technologies include semiconductor and display manufacturing equipment, coatings, metrology, software, and machine learning.
- Develop and implement an IP strategy in collaboration with colleagues in US, Asia, Europe, and India.
- Manage patent recognition program.
- Review publications, presentations, and marketing material for compliance with IP policies.
- Participate in special projects and provide other IP-related support as needed, such as corporate strategic initiatives, and IP metrics reports for the leadership team.
- Assist in conducting preliminary patentability searches, patent risk assessments, and patent sustainability assessments.
