Job Title: Technical Officer
Location: Thane, IN
Eligibility Criteria:
B.Sc./B.Sc. Tech or, preferably, M.Sc./M.Sc. Tech in, preferably, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Polymer Technology from a reputable institute/university.
• Degree with 1-3 years of laboratory work in a related discipline
Job Responsibilities:
- To deliver set targets for new product development, product improvement, value creation, and other technical support with guidance from Assistant Managers or Product Development Manager/Senior Chemist
- Execute laboratory work covering various technical projects ranging from NPD (New Product Development) to product/process improvement and value creation.
• Make paint in a lab-scale and conduct lab testing and application tests with guidance from the supervisor
• Record testing data and identify abnormalities in experimental parameters or results and highlight observed details to the supervisor
• Report all experimental work in the desired formats • Assist the supervisor in any exploratory projects
Provide technical support to other functions such as Marketing, Sales, Manufacturing, and Procurement.
• Communicate with supervisor and assist in data collection and work closely with technical team
• Report any findings in technical report or presentation format
- Ensure and maintain laboratory functionality at the required standard
- Maintain the housekeeping standard of the laboratory
- Ensure testing equipment in use is being calibrated and functioning in a smooth operation.
- Discussions with supervisor to propose ideas for improvement.
- Ensure raw materials for the laboratory is insufficient stock
Comply to SESAME RD&I Governance and Protocol
• To comply with protocols such as STM, GTM, R-book, and technical report management with guidance from the supervisor
Implement HSES initiatives from the LTS India Technical HSES Improvement Plan
• Conforms to life-saving rules and golden principle
• Involve in HSES improvement initiatives such as BBS and near-misses
• Work safely in the lab with full compliance to all HSES policies and procedures.
• Responsible as lab steward and provide support for continuous improvement in full alignment to the department’s HSES objectives.
• To assist in the implementation of HSES initiatives with guidance from the supervisor
• Adherence to test protocols (Local/Regional and Global).
• Compliance to SSHE and PS requirements
• Closely working with Regional RD&I for recipe formulation and implementation
• Take individual responsibility for new product development & renovation, and contribute to OTIFQ achievement of project deliverables, to meet stakeholders’ needs.
• Contribute to projects through customer insights & leveraging globally available technologies & repeatable Architecture models.
• Visit the Customer complaints site and provide adequate solutions to the problem.
• Accurate preparation and recording of experimental work with a clear and concise presentation of key project conclusions, recommendations & risks to the key project and product stakeholders.
• Evaluation and implementation of new/alternate raw materials, Compliance with the Global Raw Material approval process.
• Benchmarking of AkzoNobel products with Local and Global equivalents. Create and sustain a competitive advantage against market leaders, such as Asian Paints, Berger Paints, and Nerolac Paints.
• Recipe Management using Product Vision Software & SAP.
• HSE&S: Assist Lab Manager to ensure safe working conditions, consistent with global HSE&S & Sustainability policies.
• Record BBS, LI’s and ensure no LSR violations
• Support Manufacturing during new product introduction, renovations, or any issues related to the processing of product
• People: Ensure pro-active management of PDD and development plan and participate in Engagement action plan.
