Job Purpose:
The Senior Data Support Specialist will serve as the Data Domain Steward for Regulatory & Access. This is a key role to be executed as part of the new data governance effort to clean, maintain, and report high-quality data within Parexel in the context of defined business rules and standards. The Data Steward is responsible for identifying what is operationally and technically required of their domain’s data to adhere with data governance policies, remediating any data quality issues with Critical Data Elements (CDE’s) within their respective data domain, and being the primary point of contact for domain-specific knowledge and/or subject matter expertise.
Eligibility Criteria:
Bachelor’s in pharmaceutical or a relevant field is preferable
Key Accountabilities:
• Add new CDEs as identified and appropriate
• Update and maintain the business terms glossary
for the domain• Keep the CDE catalog up to date and reflective of any changes per new projects, deployments, initiatives etc.
• Update and maintain the semantic data quality rules and technical metadata
• Create and/or update end-to-end data flow maps and data lineage documentation to highlight the journey of source system data to authoritative sources
Remediating data quality issues of Critical Data Elements • Ensure source data compliance
• Act as the first point of contact for IMR (Issue Management & Resolution) process and data-related issues
• Support root-cause analysis for data quality issues
• Track upstream, midstream, and downstream operations after data quality issue remediation
Maintain high data quality within the domain, and report data quality issues to the DGO and DGB
• Perform periodic monitoring of data quality for the respective domain(s) and review dashboards via Informatica Data Quality (IDQ) tool
• Broker the relationship between Data Domain Leads and Technical Data Stewards
• Document and gain approval from the data governance board on Business & Technical Metadata, Data Flow Diagrams and Data Lineage as a part of change management
• Collaborate closely with the Data Governance Office, Domain Data Lead, and Technical Data Stewards to effectively perform data governance, DQM (Data Quality Management), and IMR responsibilities
• Periodically provide IMR updates to the DGO and the Data Governance Board (DGB)
Evangelist of the importance of Data Governance and Data Quality to data domain team members and stakeholders
• Enforce data quality standards and business rules
• Become highly knowledgeable about domain data, including what purposes data is being used for – both within the domain and downstream
• Be a change champion and actively identify any data dependencies affected by upcoming delivery, release, and change management efforts.
• Adhere to all Parexel Data Governance policies, procedures and governed solutions
Skills:
• Effective understanding and appreciation of Data Management related concepts
• Excellent problem-solving, written communication, collaboration, team leadership, and critical-thinking skills
• Ability to troubleshoot, resolve issues, and collaborate on cross-domain issues
• Strong collaboration and influencing skills
• Familiarity with the underlying source systems including Salesforce, Planisware, Oracle Financials, etc. is a plus
• Familiarity to use Alation for Enterprise Data Catalog capability and IMR tools like Assyst, TrackWise or ServiceNow is a plus
Knowledge and Experience:
• Relevant experience in Data Governance or Data Steward Roles
• Adequate experience/exposure to Data Management and Enterprise Information Management
• Familiarity with DQM and/or the IMR process
• Strong familiarity with business processes in the context of the data domain
• Previous experience in pharma and/or life sciences relating to the underlying domain
• Relevant experience on the day-to-day functioning of the domain and business processes
• Previous experience with Alation, IDQ and Azure Data Lake is a plus
• Familiarity with multiple domains and/or cross-domain understanding is a plus
