MSD Chemistry Principal Scientist Post Vacancy – Apply Online
MSD is seeking an exceptional chemist for the position of Principal Scientist Asia Lead within the External Discovery Chemistry Department. This is a Director level role, based in Hyderabad, India. The new team member will have strategic and operational oversight of all our Contract Research Organization (CRO) work in India, including working closely with strategic partners based in Hyderabad and Bangalore. In addition, the India-based Asia Lead will have the opportunity to collaborate and provide strategic oversight to our China-based CRO partners. This position will require both Domestic and International travel.

What You Must Have:
Strong technical background with an exceptional problem-solving skillset, exceptional leadership abilities, proven record of accomplishments in synthetic organic chemistry, expert proficiency in mining scientific literature and databases, Effective communication and collaboration skills in a team environment, and Data Integrity is considered essential, as these will be key attributes necessary to facilitate the ability to influence change in efforts to realize our Company vision.
Eligibility Criteria: Ph.D. in Chemistry or related field with a minimum of eight (8) years experience
in Organic Synthesis or Drug Discovery or- BS/MS candidates with twelve (12) years experience or more will also be considered
- To be successful in this role, you will
- Have highly developed skills in medicinal and synthetic chemistry and in the efficient management of scientific resources.
- Have a broad understanding of the India and China CRO industry through diverse experiences and networks and a proven track record of motivating, trouble shooting and training teams at CROs
- Have highly developed skills on new synthetic methods, techniques and applications
- Collaborate with Discovery Chemistry project teams in building structure-activity relationships.
- Provide innovative design of therapeutic compounds
- Planning of synthetic chemistry routes
- Problem-solving in synthetic chemistry execution to direct teams of contract research scientists toward meeting program objectives.
- Collaborate via electronic communication with CRO groups in multiple international time zones. Travel at least twice per year for multi-day site visits and working sessions with CRO groups in our global CRO partner network. This position will require both Domestic and International travel.
